ANOTHER BIRMINGHAM D.C.M,

Pte. Ralph Huskisson, R. War Regt., who has been awarded the D.C.M., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Huskisson, 177, Lodge Road, Winson Green. He joined one of the City Battalions on formation, being at that time employed by Buttons. Ltd., Aston. The act for which he was given the medal was:—”He and another with machine guns held a trench from which his company were retiring, and remained there until darkness enabled them to bring in the guns. Their coolness undoubtedly saved the trench from being captured.”

The Military Medal has been awarded to Sergeant Clifford Windmill, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, whose home is in Sherbourne Road, Acock’s Green. While engaged with a bombing party under heavy fire Sergeant Windmill led his men into the open and recovered a Lewis gun at great personal risk. The whole party returned unscathed. Sergeant Windmill, who is well-known in Acock’s Green, enlisted in September, 1914 and been at the front nearly two years. He is old boy of St. Mary’s Day Schools, Acock’s Green.
