Discussion: the Asian contribution to the Great War

February 21, 2015 @ 1:30 pm - 4:45 pm

2014 saw the beginning of the commemoration of the Great War. At the start of the year the contribution of soldiers from Asian countries was arguably not well known. Many projects that took place in 2014 helped to change this and this discussion event at the Library of Birmingham, as part of the Voices of War & Peace and Hidden Histories WW1 Engagement Centres activities, will explore and reflect upon the work done so far while looking ahead to the rest of the commemorative period.

During the event there will be a series of presentations and participants will have the opportunity to share their own work, meet others working on projects, and discuss with staff from the WW1 Engagement Centres how to develop or expand projects or research.

Speakers include: Jahan Mahmood (Independent Military Historian), Manish Tayal (Project Lead, ‘We Were There Too’), and Steve Ballinger (Communications Director, British Future).

If you are interested in contributing to the day then please contact Nicola Gauld, Voices of War & Peace Coordinator, voices@contacts.bham.ac.uk

A FREE event. Places are limited. Please book via Eventbrite

This event will take place in the Heritage Learning Space, Floor 4 of the Library of Birmingham.
