The centenary of the First World War has resulted in a plethora of related television and radio programmes from Peaky Blinders to the Radio 4 drama Home Front. This panel discussion will bring together both media professionals and academics that have been involved in these productions to discuss and answer questions on ways the contemporary media has responded to WWI.

Participants include:
* Jessica Dromgoole, Editor of Radio 4 drama series Home Front

* Nicola Goodwin, broadcast journalist with BBC Hereford and Worcester and one of the producers for the BBC’s World War One at Home series

* Prof Maggie Andrews, cultural historian at the University of Worcester who researches, and teaches on WWI and 2 Home Fronts and is the Historical Consultant for Radio 4’s Home Front and an advisor on the BBC’s World War One at Home series in the West Midlands

* Dr Chris Upton, Reader in Public History at Newman University Birmingham, specialising in the history of the West Midlands region. Chris makes regular appearances on the local media and is the Historical Consultant on the BBC2 drama Peaky Blinders

Chaired by:
* Dr Neil Fleming, Lecturer in History at the University of Worcester. Neil writes about British, Irish and imperial politics since the late nineteenth century.
