PATRIOTIC CRICKET CLUB.

At the annual meeting of King’s Heath Cricket and Football Club, held last night, it has stated, in spite the absence of so many members on military service, and war conditions, the financial position of the club was better than ever, due partly to the cutting down of expenses, and the saving on account of less sport being indulged in. The club had paid £22 11s. 6d. in subscriptions for members with the forces, as compared £12 12s. in the previous year. It was mentioned by Mr. J. Wollaston, the hon. secretary, that the members and lady friends had subscribed between £25 and £30 for material for wounded soldiers’ requisites, with the result that the ladies made up 859 articles, valued £75, which were sent to local hospitals. Sympathetic reference was made the death in action of Pte. Chester Illingworth, the son of the captain, and a promising cricketer.
