“DAISY DAY”

The weekly street collection in Birmingham today was on behalf of the funds of the National Children’s Home, which was founded nearly half a century ago, and formerly known as “Dr Stephenson’s Homes.” Those who assisted the fund received an artificial daisy to wear, and the indications in the central streets of the city were that the movement was generously supported. A house-to-house collection has already been made in some of the suburban districts of the city, and as a result of that and today’s collection, which Mr. F. L. Jenkinson was hon. secretary and Mr. A. E. Leeson treasurer, a substantial contribution to the national fund is anticipated. There are a number of orphanages connected with the National Children’s Home, and a direct local interest is given to the collection by the fact that one of the home, the Princess Alice Orphanage, is situated at New Oscott .
