BARON HEYKING TO VISIT BIRMINGHAM

Baron A. Heyking, the Consul-General for Russia in London, will address a meeting of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce at the Grand Hotel, Birmingham, on Friday afternoon next.

The object the meeting will be to inaugurate a Russian trade section of the Chamber, and Baron Heyking will deal with the promotion of closer commercial relations between Great Britain and Russia. It may be mentioned that the Chamber have raised nearly £10,000 for the endowment of a Russian chair at the University of Birmingham, and though it is not possible to appoint a fully qualified professor until after the war. A lecturer has already been appointed to commence the work of the department.
