GAS FOR INDUSTRIA8L PURPOSES.

INTERESTING BIRMINGHAM SCHEME OF RESEARCH

Dealing with the question of industrial research which just now is claiming special attention, the “Birmingham Gas Department Magazine,” in its current issue, stated that the Industrial Heating Department is now, and has for some time past been, engaged in carrying out important scientific and technical research work, and, in order to further assist the manufacturers in Birmingham the Gas Committee has decided to increase the scope of this Department by extending its present laboratories and fitting up metallurgical and testing laboratories, whereby the various manufacturers can obtain technical assistance and have investigational work conducted. The fees payable by the various manufacturers of the city for any investigational work which they may require carrying out from time to time, will be so arranged that the organisation will be ultimately self-supporting, but non-profit making.
