HARRISON’S CONCERT AT THE TOWN HALL

The war has clearly shown that our British artists can hold their own on concert platforms, and also, that British audiences can appreciate British artistry, and furthermore, that British artistry being thus encouraged, will rise to such levels that after-the-war artists of Germany and Austria will, as to Britain and the British Possessions, find their occupation gone. The Harrison concert at the Town Hall last night gave one more proof of this.
Mdme Agnes Nicholls has been so long and so successfully before the public, that to record that her work was on its usual level would be sufficient notice. But while her voice retains its old sweetness, there is an added quality of power, with a stronger dramatism than before. This advance was shown in “Butterfly’s Song” and other selections.
