The Diary of Dorothy Priest, November 4th 1914

Navy and army have been doing brilliant work.  There has been a naval engagement visible, I believe, from the east coast.

From one paper I gathered that a German squadron saw a British ship and went after her.  Then some more British ships came up and the Germans fled.  But this can’t be a full and correct statement as it doesn’t mention the fighting.
